About Me

Hi, I'm Emma Coulter, owner and dialect coach of The Accent Project.I first studied accents/dialects at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I received a BFA in Drama. At school, I studied with Mary Irwin (designated Linklater teacher) and Geordie MacMinn (designated Linklater and Alexander Technique teacher). I continued my education by completing 90 hours of accent acquisition training with Knight Thompson Speechwork.In addition to being a Dialect Coach, I am also an actor and director so I approach accent work with these perspectives in mind.I get what it's like to feel overwhelmed by how academic some accent work can be. It is my mission to take the accuracy and precision of the accent training I've received and introduce it to my coaching clients in as simple and straight forward a way as possible. I aim to make the process fun and not intimidating.I always do my best to tailor my approach to each person's individual needs, neurodiversity and learning style. I believe accent work should be individualized, informed by emotional intelligence, and an enjoyable experience!
